Philosophy Statements, Graduation Requirements and Dave Burgess... Oh My!

Let's get caught up on all the goodness from the last few weeks of #AEE100!

  • We spent two class sessions discussing the importance of and how to create a Teaching Philosophy
    • Remember Ms. Herr's High Five from Dr. Larkin Hood's Philosophy Statement?
      • We know that a teaching philosophy helps us to IMPROVE and PROVE
      • They help us articulate what kind of teacher/facilitator/leader we are
      • They should be based on our previous experiences and those we predict we will encounter
      • They help us articulate what we want our students to know before they leave our classroom
      • Make them memorable! You will show these to an employer.

Need inspired? Watch this dynamite TED talk about being a champion for your students!

    • Don't Forget! The first draft of your philosophy statement AND your shoebox assignment are due Tuesday, September 29th!
    • Need Help? Join Dr. Rice and Ms. Herr in Recitation in 214 Ferguson every Monday from 12 to 1pm.
